YEAREND NEWSLETTER November 22, 2013
We are usually sad to announce that the season has come to a end… BUT NOT THIS YEAR… we are happy in introduce our new purchase of two High Definition Golf Simulators from Legends golf which has sadly closed its doors. We will have the clubhouse open all year round. This is a great way of bringing in some extra revenue. Members will be getting a preferred rate of $20 per hour for the rental of the machines. It normally takes one hour for one person to play 18 holes, so plan to book the simulators for four hours if you plan to bring up a foursome. Please call the Pro Shop for more information or visit our website.

We are also opening the course to cross country skiing this winter, depending on snow conditions. If any one wishes to use the course for skiing please phone the Pro Shop first to see if conditions are suitable. There will certain areas that off limits, so please check with the staff in the clubhouse to obtain a map that shows what areas are open for skiing.

Thank you to all our members for making this a great year, and thanks to all our new members for choosing Eaglepoint. We will keep trying to grow and improve for your enjoyment. We always look forward to hearing your thoughts, and we are always open to new ideas. Please feel free express your concerns or pass on ideas that might help us to improve your golfing experience. Word of mouth is the best advertiser, so the more we all promote Eaglepoint the better off our future will be.

In preparation for old man winter we have sprayed the greens with a fungicide and laid down a thick topdressing of sand to insulate and protect the crowns of our Turf grass community. Furthermore, we have been aerating the entire Golf Course, which is an unpleasant necessity, but has proven to improve the fairways and rough these last few years. For those who have had to play through this process, thank-you for your understanding and patience. After a few cuts in the spring the cores will all be gone.

We would like to announce that we had back to back successful years with our 2013 Season up 9% in Rounds and a 4% up in Restaurant sales. Whereas our 2012 season was up 22% in rounds and a 40% increase in Restaurant sales to the previous season. We would like to give recognition to all the Staff, Members, Sponsors, and to all that came out to play. Making Eaglepoint your place of interest this past year has helped us in reaching our successes. Special thanks to Ian Eggleton for the countless hours and the behind the scene work, Brett and his Pro Shop staff for all the organizing of tournaments, sponsorship and helping with the weekly lineups, Paul Reimer and his kitchen staff for the meals they provided us throughout the season, Michele Meyers and the girls in the lounge for the great service and experience, and Mark Hoey and his ground crew for taking the reins on the Golf Course and keeping conditions well up to par throughout the season. All are dedicated to bringing a challenging and pleasurable experience.

Our new Tee Time Booking Engine, at our website, and on our Facebook page, at Eaglepoint Golf, has had some hiccups this last year, but they have been worked out and we are starting to see lots of use. The online booking engine is a great way to book well in advance and it frees up our Pro Shop staff to deal better with customers. Just a reminder, members get fourteen day booking privileges. Two weeks may seem like a long time, but its a great way to be guaranteed your preferred tee time. Please check our Facebook page regularly for upcoming events and promotions.

The new practice area was proven to be very successful, not only for daily use, but the men’s club have corresponded it into their weekly events . Also it was great place to have the 3 day ladies teaching clinics in the summer time. The area was also used as a secondary nursery where we were able to obtain turf to build a new tee off box on #8 . We were glad to see that some members were taking advantage of the area. We tried to design the area to provide a variety of shot making scenarios.

We were able to make some more improvements on the course. We are also in the middle of getting approval from the city to close in the outside pati.. Other notable changes were the renovations of the waste bunker on #14, the Tee box on #15, cart paths patched, driving range getting a makeover and widened by 75 yards and we are looking at planting a row of trees between the Driving Range and #10 Fairway. Also, we were able to address some of the SLOW PLAY we had been experiencing by adding marshals on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We still ask the public and members to do their part in helping reduce the slow play. As for the winter and the spring we hope to make even more subtle changes to the Golf Course.

Men’s, Ladies , Seniors, Weld & Steel and the Ina Guile Ladies were a great success this year. We cannot say enough about the support we get from in and out of the club. The hard work of the Captains and their committees (Karen/Pat /Grace/Rick /Dave/Ley/Al/ Larry) make Eaglepoint one of the top courses to play in the area. Their numbers and popularity are on the rise. These events are played once a week in a social and semi-competitive atmosphere. Some may not have heard about the Ina Guile: It’s a ladies interclub competition, and it’s the first time in its history that Eaglepoint came out on top,. Congratulations to the Ladies that took part in representing us well.

We had several successful events this year including Elvis Mix (SOLD OUT), King of the Hill, Teamball (SOLD OUT), Ladies two-ball (SOLD OUT), Seniors two-ball (SOLD OUT), Summer kick off Scramble (Sold Out), Goat Track (SOLD OUT).. As you can see with the (SELL OUTS), it’s getting to the point we are requesting ALL TOURNAMNET S BE PREPAID AND ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASES. Also adding to the line up next year (September 12 -13), we will be hosting Elvis and opening will be Roy Orbison. Friday will be a DINNER AND SHOW and Saturday will be the Eaglepoint Mixed with Entertainment.
We are hoping to be a destination of choice for businesses and friends to hold their annual golf outings. Please visit our website for options and pricing or phone the Pro Shop at 250-573-2453.
